Corporate Parenting Strategy Launch (report by QA officer CSCP, Jess Merlet)

6 December 2023

Young adults all care experienced took us through the event and their journey. The lead conversations on broad themes such as housing or permanence in their care. I was very humbled by the storied they shared and how much they were dedicated to be part of changes they deemed necessary,  not only for themselves but for the future children experiencing care.

They lead an upbeat, genuine and honest event where they did not shy away from telling us their truth, beliefs and holding the people in the room accountable and invested in the changes they are working hard to make happen.

I was also struck by the willingness of the workforce to have an open dialogue and to show those young adults that they are also committed to change and better outcomes. It felt that good conversations were happening and that the people present were eager to learn more from the young team and take on board their experience and take back the learning.

It was truly a great experience. I have great hope for this strategy as there appear to have been a true collaboration between the service and the young people they serve. I believe this may lead to significant changes and improvements for our care experienced children and young people.
